Table Top Games Advice

Hey, any guys who are well immersed into games like DnD, Shadowrun, etc. know of some tips, tricks and all around advice for someone who wants to start playing? Like which game to give a try, whats a good starting class for beginners? Things like that.

If you're just starting, I would recommend DnD 5e. It's rules manage to strike a good balance between simplicity and complexity without getting bloated with unnecessary crap.

But in terms of advice, that would kind of depend on whether or not you are the GM or a player of your little group.

I don't know how consistently common this is, but Wizards of the Coast runs weekly events called Adventures League for D&D 5E, which aims to assimilate brand new players. If you want to check things out, I recommend signing up for it. Participating is free last I checked.

Otherwise, if you want an Internet solution, sign up for Roll 20 (an online tabletop simulator) and look for a group in the forums. A kind hearted dungeon master just might take you in.
