You're A Fucking Disappointment is a line of dialogue spoken by Soldier Boy, portrayed by Jensen Ackles, in season three of the Amazon TV series The Boys, released in July 2022. A captioned screenshot and clip of the scene became a GIF and reaction image, as well as the subject of image macros, that month, typically used to express disappointment toward someone or something.

Origin

On July 8th, 2022, season three episode eight of The Boys was released on Amazon Prime Video.^[1] In one scene, Soldier Boy talks with Homelander, calling him weak and a "fucking disappointment" before attacking him (shown below).

On that day, a GIF of the scene was uploaded to Tenor^[2] by the official theboystv account (shown below).

On July 8th, 2022, the day the episode was released, iFunny^[3] user Superplays and Facebook^[4] page TV Series World posted memes using the scene about being disappointed in the season finale of the show, gaining roughly five smiles and 59 reactions, respectively, in a month (shown below, left and right).

On July 11th, Instagram^[5] user starwars_general posted an image macro using the meme in reference to Star Wars, gaining over 7,600 likes in three weeks (shown below). On July 15th, the Facebook^[6] page Homegrown Mutualist posted an image macro with a caption about capitalism vs. anarchism using the meme, gaining over 540 shares and 600 reactions in just over two weeks.

On July 16th, Instagram^[7] user server.memes posted a meme about being a restaurant server using the format, gaining over 6,200 likes in two weeks (shown below, left). On July 20th, the Marvel Cinematic World Facebook^[8] page posted a history meme using the format, gaining over 2,400 shares and 21,000 reactions in two weeks (shown below, right).

On July 29th, Instagram^[9] user supernatural.fanus posted a fancam that begins with the scene, gaining over 63,000 views in three days (shown below).
