WICKED

About

WICKED is a Discord and Twitch emote depicting Peepo wearing multi-colored cycling sunglasses. The emote is was posted to FrankerFaceZ in April 2020 and became increasingly popularized on Twitch in the following years. It is used to convey coolness and is used to react when something cool happens.

Origin

On April 16th, 2020, FrankerFaceZ^[1] user SeVeJj uploaded the "WICKED" emote, a Photoshop of the Pepe the Frog inspired character Peepo wearing cool, multi-colored cycling sunglasses (shown below). As of October 2022, the emote is being used by over 19,200 Twitch channels.

Spread

On February 26th, 2021, the emote was added to BetterTTV.^[2] On April 1st, 2021, an /r/Twitch^[3] user posted asking what the emote means. On April 9th, Redditor The_Ragnarok3 posted on /r/HelpMeFind^[4] made a post asking for help finding the sunglasses from the emote. On May 25th, Redditor ChunLiSBK posted an Imgur^[5] link to the sunglasses (shown below).

Multiple variations of the WICKED emote have been posted to FrankerFaceZ^[6][7][8] since the original, including a version combining WICKED with Prayge, "DonkWICKED," which depicts WICKED in a gnome child costume and a "WICKEDHAW," which depicts WICKED in a cowboy hat (shown below, left to right respectively).

On June 15th, 2022, YouTuber^[9] PepegaWarlord – xQc Clips uploaded a clip from an xQc stream where he believes a chatter who tells him WICKED got deleted, followed by chatters spamming the emote, garnering over 35,000 videos in four months (shown below).
