Why You Acting Sus, or simply IMPOSTOR, is a song by rapper Damian Official featuring lyrics about the video game Among Us that went viral on TikTok following its release in May 2021 in relation to ironic Amogus memes. The song inspired a number of popular videos on the platform, used frequently by TikToker @mrteccs, who invented a dance to the song.

Origin

On March 16th, 2021, TikToker^[1] Damian Official, who frequently posts comedic rap songs, posted a song titled "IMPOSTOR" featuring lyrics about the video game Among Us, particularly about someone being the impostor (shown below). The video gained over 3.6 million views in three months.

On March 19th, Damian Official released a full version of the song to Soundcloud,^[2] garnering over 14,000 plays in three months. The full version was also uploaded to YouTube^[3] later that month, garnering over 500,000 views in a comparable span of time (shown below).

The original sound for Damian's TikTok became considerably popularized on TikTok over the next few months, inspiring a number of notable videos. On March 18th, TikToker^[4] @mrteccs posted a video to the song showcasing a dance he created set to it, garnering over 2.9 million views in three months (shown below).

Mrteccs continued to upload videos using the sound, often gaining viral success. For example, on March 20th and 21st, he uploaded videos set to the sound, garnering over a million views each in three months (shown below, left and right).

On March 24th, @Mrteccs uploaded a video to TikTok^[5] titled the "Among Us Imposter Acting Challenge" in which he acts out a skit set to the sound, garnering over 6.6 million views in three months (shown below).

The original sound inspired over 13,000 videos on TikTok^[6][7] by June 2021, many of which use the song as a general soundtrack or over Among Us-related footage, as well as following the dance trend started by Mrteccs (examples shown below, left and right).

On April 25th, YouTuber^[8] TORA_V4 posted a vocaloid cover of the song as if sung by Hatsune Miku, garnering over 87,000 views in two months (shown below).
