About

Twitter Video Combinations are a Twitter feature that allows uploading up to four separate videos in one tweet that was added in October 2022. Following the addition of the feature, posts in which four videos were arranged in a matching order, similar to Twitter Image Combination Memes, were popularized on the app, as well as other memes combining videos for humorous effect.

Origin

On October 4th, 2022, the social media website Twitter added a feature that allowed users to post up to four videos in a single tweet in contrast to the previous limit of one video. Although only one video could be played at the same time, this enabled users to combine videos in a humorous fashion, similar to the Twitter Image Combination Memes (also known as Please Work). For example, on that day, Twitter^[1] user @BillGarf posted a Kirby meme splitting a single video of Kirby sucking in food into four. The post gained over 60 retweets and 1,100 likes in two days (shown below).

On October 5th, Twitter^[2] user @ThisIsHow1Win posted two clips of wrestler John Cena saying "boobies" and "penis" in a single tweet. The post gained over 6,600 retweets and 28,000 likes in one day (shown below).

Spread

On October 5th, 2022, the trend achieved a viral presence on Twitter as users shared videos that humorously complemented each other, either through arrangement or content. For example, that day, Twitter^[3] user @kylelamber2001 posted clips of Donald Trump saying "obamna" and Joe Biden screaming "soda." The tweet gained over 12,600 retweets and 76,400 likes in less than a day (seen below).

Later that day on October 5th, Twitter^[4] user @krembeni posted a meme combining a Chainsaw Man panel of characters Power and Kobeni with Death of Brian Griffin. The post received over 2,800 retweets and 17,000 likes in less than a day (shown below).

Notable Twitter Image Combination Formats, such as Kirby Inhaling and Pope Francis Holding Things, were also combined with videos. For example, Twitter^[5] user @punsandbunsgg posted a Bridget version of the Pope Francis Holding Things meme on October 6th that gained over 2,600 retweets and 9,700 likes in less than a day (seen below).

Other notable formats included an adaptation of Cuddling Couple Watching TV which placed a video in the upper righthand corner and still images in the panels surrounding it. The example below, by @SopranosWorld, received over 27,000 likes in the day after its posting on October 9th, 2022.^[6]
