Together We Are FNAF is a catchphrase used in a series of ironic Five Nights at Freddy's movie memes imagining a cliché scene where the protagonist teams up with the animatronic villains to take on a shared enemy, saying the nonsensical line, "together, we are FNAF." The phrase, which is inspired by fears that the movie will be cheesy, disappointing and rely on tired movie tropes, was first used on TikTok and spread to the /r/fnafmeme subreddit in early October 2023, inspiring further memes throughout October, particularly on TikTok, including memes depicting scenarios where viewers walk out of the movie disappointed after the line, or a similar cheesy line, is said during the film.

Origin

On October 2nd, 2023, TikToker^[11] @grantgreenly posted a video sharing a screenshot of a scene from one of the FNAF movie trailers where it appears as if the protagonist is talking cordially with the animatronic killer animals, expressing his desire that there is not a scene where they team up together in the movie, garnering over 4.4 million views in three weeks (shown below). TikToker^[12] @breeentuh posted a comment imagining dialogue for the scene, writing, "'together we are FNAF,'" garnering over 145,000 upvotes and becoming the top comment on the video.

On October 3rd, Redditor u/BatsoBen posted a series of photoshops to /r/fnafmeme^[1] titled "Bro I swear if the movie is like this 😭😭" consisting of the same still frame from the film where the protagonist is surrounded by the animatronics, who are seemingly friendly towards him. Each image is captioned with a different cliché phrase depicting an imagined scene from the film where the protagonist teams up with the animatronics to take on Springtrap, the second image featuring the line, "Together, we are FNAF" (shown below). The post gained over 600 upvotes in three weeks.

That same day, TikToker^[2] @robert_d_ace posted a video using the caption "together we are FNAF," garnering over 600,000 views in the same span of time (shown below).

The phrase became increasingly popular in memes fearing that the movie will end up disappointing throughout October. For example, on October 19th, TikToker^[3] @theblindgoon posted a meme using the phrase that gained over 2.8 million views in a week (shown below, left). On October 21st, TikToker^[4] @n.o.e.l.i.t.o posted a meme using the phrase that gained over 300,000 views in a week (shown below, right).

On October 22nd, TikTokers^[5]^[6] @n0stalgiac (shown below) and @totallynotzetta posted videos where they parody the film by referencing the meme, the former acting out the potential "we are FNAF" scene and the latter acting it out through voice over, garnering over 7.5 million and 1.3 million views respectively in four days.

On October 23rd, Redditor u/NCR_Veteran_Rangers posted a version of the meme to /r/discordVideos^[7] and /r/memes,^[8] garnering over 3,100 upvotes and 4,000 upvotes respectively in three days. On October 24th, TikToker^[9] @hajimeww.hehe posted a meme depicting their reaction after "we are FNAF" is said, garnering over 1.1 million views in two days (shown below, left). On October 25th, TikToker^[10] @demimonded posted a video of people seemingly cheering at the end of the film with the caption over the video, garnering over 800,000 views in a day (shown below, right).
