Superior Aero-Chad vs. Genetic Failure refers to a series of exploitable image macros showing a profile view of someone labeled a "superior aero-chad," meaning aerodynamically built, next to someone labeled "genetic failure" who is not aerodynamically built. The meme, which is similar to the Chad vs. Virgin format, was first posted to Facebook in October 2021 and became increasingly popular over the following years.

Origin

On October 20th, 2021, the Epistemological Diarrhea sparkled with obstacles Facebook^[1] page posted a meme showing a skinny person with a small chin and large nose on the left with wind lines drawing over and under his head to demonstrate how aerodynamic he is, labeled "Superior Aero-Chad," and a more stereotypical Chad on the right with wind lines drawn repelling off of his face to demonstrate his lack of aerodynamics, labeled "Genetic Failure," garnering over 1,900 reactions and 1,200 shares in just over a year (shown below).

Spread

The original aero-chad meme gained viral spread, including an October 20th, 2021 post by Instagram^[2] page madeforgeeks that gained over 60,000 likes in around a year and a post to /r/memes^[3] that gained over 9,500 upvotes in thes same rough span of time. It also inspired new variations on the meme. On January 30th, 2022, a Redditor posted a new version of the meme to the /r/xqcow^[4] subreddit replacing the aero-chad with xQc and the genetic failure with Tyler1, garnering over 730 upvotes in a year (shown below).

On the same date, a now-deleted Redditor posted a meme to /r/shitposting^[5] placing dogs over the characters' heads, garnering over 79,000 upvotes in a year (shown below, left). It was also posted to Instagram^[6] that day by henrydavis1300, garnering over 6,900 likes in the same span of time. On March 12th, Twitter^[7] user @MemesUpMyAss posted a version of the meme that gained over 11,000 likes in three days (shown below, right).
