Marvel Shieldposting is a Facebook meme group focused on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The group has been instrumental in the spread of numerous Marvel memes, including Hulk Gives Ant-Man a Taco and Avengers: Endgame Portals.

History

Marvel Shieldposting launched on March 9th, 2017 under the name MCU Shieldposting. Within four years, the group amassed nearly 200,000 members.[1]

The following year, on November 19th, 2018, the group launched an accompanying Instagram[2] page. The first post featured a screenshot from the television show Daredevil, which features the subtitle "Matt Groaning." They captioned the post, "When someone asks who created the Simpsons" (shown below).

You Can't Defeat Me

You Can't Defeat Me is a three-panel object label image macro series based on screenshots from the 2017 Marvel superhero film Thor: Ragnarok.

The earliest known usage of the scene as a meme was posted on July 2nd, 2018 in the Marvel Shieldposting Facebook [1] group. That day, Facebook user pedrohenrique.pracanicoribeiro photoshopped the characters' flags from the countries participating in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The post (shown below) received more than 1,600 reactions and 300 shares in one month.

Een is a nickname for the Marvel superhero Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch, as portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is an intentional misspelling of "queen."

Steve Rogers Going Through History

Steve Rogers Going Through History refers to a series of memes which parody the fact that Marvel character Steve Rogers (Captain America) does not prevent tragic historic events in the past despite being aware of them and imply that he abuses his knowledge for personal gain.

On May 18th, Facebook user Jessica Grace posted a meme to the Marvel Shieldposting group which implied that Steve Rogers would invest in Apple using his knowledge of the company's future success (shown below).

Ant-Man on Security Camera

Ant-Man on Security Camera refers to a series of image macros based on a shot of the character Ant-Man on a security monitor in the 2019 Marvel superhero film Avengers: Endgame.

On December 18th, various meme accounts posted a shot of Ant-Man on the camera as the basis for a series of memes and reaction images. For example, Instagram user @shieldposting posted a version that joked that Ant-Man was one's Uber driver. The post received more than 250 likes in less than six months (shown below).
