Scooby-Doo Punches Fred GIF refers to a scene from the 2002 live-action Scooby-Doo movie in which Scooby-Doo is dressed as an old lady inside a plane and ends up punching Fred. The scene was later made into a GIF on Twitter / X in 2024, showing the plane crashing after Scooby punches Fred, which became a viral reaction video and meme on the platform as people shared the GIF in posts about having a rage attack or losing their temper.

Origin

On June 8th, 2002, the live-action Scooby Do movie premiered in theaters in the United States. One particular scene features Scooby barking at a cat inside a plane and Fred decides to flick Scooby's nose, which causes the dog to punch Fred. The earliest online post of the scene was uploaded on YouTube[1] on May 11th, 2011, by user @alexp527, which amassed more than 672,000 views and 3,400 likes in 13 years.

On January 16th, 2024, Tenor[2] user @jczoinks posted a GIF version of the "Scooby Doo punches Fred" scene in which the plane explodes after Scooby hits Fred in the face (shown below).

The GIF was then uploaded on X where it was used as a reaction video for people expressing their anger or temper. For example, on February 27th, 2024, X[3] user @gyuprntt used the GIF paired with the caption about a viral story of a K-pop singer who had to write an apology letter over dating rumors. The post (shown below) amassed more than 23,000 likes and 2,600 retweets in two months.
