Pink Dragon TikTok / Dragon Farm Adventure Ads

Pink Dragon TikTok or Pink Dragon Lore refers to a series of animated mobile game ads for Dragon Farm Adventure depicting a pink dragon, often getting abused by a male dragon farmer. TikToker @dragonfarmadventure started posting the animations in September 2022. The animations started to go viral in December 2022, particularly after the release of a video where the pink dragon sharts while trying to lay an egg. In January 2023, TikTokers began posting edits of the animations, often referring to the videos as "pink dragon lore" and setting them to "Memories" by Conan Gray.

Origin

On September 9th, 2022, TikToker^[1] @dragonfarmadventure, a promotional page for the mobile game Dragon Farm Adventure,^[2] posted their first animated ad for the game. In the video, a pink dragon mother is shown dying after being beaten by two evil farmers, a distressed baby pink dragon next to her. The two men who beat the mother dragon walk away and a blonde woman farmer finds the baby dragon. The video then cuts to gameplay footage of the woman and the pink dragon baby healing the mother dragon (shown below, left). The video gained over 36,000 views in four months. On the same day they posted another animation where a blue dragon attacks the blonde woman and the pink dragon saves her, garnering over 39,000 views in the same rough span of time.

The account continued to post ads like this over the following months. Many of the animations show the pink dragon getting abused and kicked out of the home by a blonde male dragon farmer and other baby dragons (example shown below, left) while others show the blonde female farmer working with the dragon. On November 13th, 2022, the account uploaded its first video to TikTok^[3] to gain over a million views, with 5.1 million views in two months (shown below, right).

On December 29th, 2022, the official TikTok^[4] uploaded an animation where several dragons lay eggs. The pink dragon attempts to lay an egg but instead sharts and gets thrown out of the barn, garnering over 12 million views in a month (shown below).

Spread

In January 2023, as the pink dragon videos went viral on TikTok and started appearing frequently on users' For Your Pages, they inspired reuploads and edits of the various videos. On January 26th, 2023, TikToker^[5] @pinkdragonjustice posted a compilation of clips of the pink dragon getting abused, ending the video with the hashtag "#justiceforpinkdragon," garnering over 1.1 million views in a day (shown below, left). Some TikTokers started setting the videos to "Memories" by Conan Gray. For example, on January 26th, TikToker^[6] @onlykenobi posted an edit set to the song, garnering over 108,000 views in a day (shown below, right). The videos and edits also started to get reposted on sites including Twitter^[7] and YouTube.^[8]

On the same day, TikToker^[9] @pinkdragonfanaccount posted a similar Conan Gray "Memories" edit of a pink dragon clip where the blonde woman saves him, garnering over 1.5 million views in a day (shown below).
