Paneer Posting is a slang phrase popularly used in the replies or comment sections of an Indian social media upload suspected to be a paid promotional post. "Paneer" is a Hindi word for "cottage cheese," and is considered to be a rich and indulgent dish, with the phrase Aaj Admin Paneer Khayega meaning the paid post will earn the admin a paneer meal. The phrase "paneer posting" came into popular use in early 2022 and is believed to have originated on Instagram before being used on Twitter.

The earliest notable meme using the phrase "Aaj Admin Paneer Khayega" is an October 28th, 2021 post by Instagram^[5] page memespromax2.0 that gathered 700 views in over a year (seen below). Other Instagram posts in 2021 made allusions to promotional posts earning admins paneer meals as well.^[6][7][8]

The earliest known use of the phrase "paneer posting" is a January 24th, 2022 carousel Instagram post^[1] made by udas_chidiya_memes. The caption of the post reads, "Uttar Pradesh election thread 🧵 (This is not paneer posting)," with the implication being that this particular political post was not funded by a political party. The post gathered over 800 likes in a year (seen below).

On February 2nd, 2022, Twitter^[2] user @rishiicasm posted a reply using the phrase "paneer posting" to a meme featuring YouTuber Amit Bhadana. The original poster replied to the accusation of "paneer posting" by joking about Bhadana being his personal friend.

On February 18th, 2022, Instagram^[9] page satirehiphop posted a meme using the phrase "Admin paneer khayega," gathering over 3,900 likes in a year (seen below).

On April 18th, 2022, Twitter^[3] user @cbhat5 posted a reply to a possible paid tweet promoting the education app "Seekho" saying, "Instagram pe this is called paneer posting in case one doesn't work at seekho and posts/tweets this."

On April 24th, 2022, Instagram^[4] page Emoboisofindia made a carousel post with the caption "Paneer posting 🤝 asking you all for places to eat paneer #emoboisofindia #escaypelive." The first image in the carousel was a promotional meme for the show "Escaype Live." The post gathered over 19,000 likes in nearly a year (seen below).
