Oh No Monkey or Planet of the Apes' "Oh No!" Monkey is an exploitable video meme template that uses a clip from the War of The Planet of The Apes 2017 film in which the character Bad Ape repeatedly says "Oh no! Nono no no no!" The clip became a viral meme on TikTok in May 2024, often used as a reaction to negative situations and POV ironic memes of people finding out they are dying after the Make-A-Wish volunteers showed up at their hospital rooms.

Origin

On July 12th, 2017, the official Planet of The Apes YouTube^[1] channel uploaded the War for the Planet of the Apes "Bad Ape and Maurice" clip (shown below), which shows the character Bad Apea denying a request from Maurice, saying the line "Oh no! Nono no no no!" The video amassed more than 928,000 views and 10,000 likes in seven years.

On April 24th, 2023, a green screen version of Bad Ape's clip was uploaded on the Creator Set^[2] website by Its3adwy, receiving more than 2,400 views and 322 downloads in a year.

Spread

On May 26th, 2024, the meme went viral on TikTok, sparking a series of videos using War for the Planet of the Apes clip for ironic memes and jokes. For example, TikTok^[3] user @whyattttt added the scene to a living room background, captioning "When work calls on your relaxing day off." The post (seen below, left) received more than 681,000 plays and 47,000 likes in four days.

On May 27th, 2024, TikTok^[4] user @bushesareprettycool added the exploitable clip to a hospital room background, pairing it with the caption "POV the doctor said it was just a bump, but Batman pulls up with a PS5." The video (seen below, right) amassed over 4 million plays and 645,000 likes in three days.
