Lady Gaga's Harley Quinn refers to Lady Gaga's role of DC character Harley Quinn in the 2024 film Joker: Folie à Deux. After promotional images of the character were released, Lady Gaga's Harley Quinn gained popularity in various memes, including Sigma Female image macros.

Origin

On June 13th, 2022, rumors^[1] started to spread that the American singer Lady Gaga was in talks to join Joker's forthcoming sequel, Joker: Folie à deux, alongside Joaquin Phoenix. The news spurred memes and reactions from fans of the singer and the movie. Twitter user @therealsupes^[2] commented about the impact Lady Gaga would have as Harley Quinn, receiving over 600 retweets and 6,000 likes in nine months.

On August 4th, 2022, Lady Gaga was confirmed^[3] as the new actress portraying Harley Quinn in the DC Comic movie Joker: Folie à Deux.

On February 14th, 2023, the first image of the singer as Harley Quinn alongside Joaquin Phoenix's Joker was posted on Lady Gaga's Twitter^[4] account. The image garnered over 63,700 retweets and 271,200 likes in one day (seen below).

The image resurfaced in more memes about the movie, with Lady Gaga's fans joining forces in supporting the film. On February 14th, 2023, Twitter^[5] user @gagadaily described how both types of fans would arrive at the movies during the premiere. The tweet garnered 138,700 plays and 4,855 likes in less than 24 hours (seen below).

On Twitter,^[6] another Lady Gaga fan shared how excited she's going to be to see the actress in the movie. The tweet from @carriesnotscary received 36,000 views and 1,194 likes in a day.

Joker Stairs Images

Between April 2nd and 5th, multiple photographs and videos of Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn were shared^[7]^[8] online as principal photography of the movie took place near at the Joker Stairs location in Bronx (images shown below). Additionally, on April 5th, Lady Gaga tweeted^[9] a promotional image of herself as Harley Quinn, a recreation of the promotional image of Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker for the 2019 film. The post (shown below, right) received over 33,600 retweets and 244,400 likes in one day.

In early April 2023, the images have been used in various memes, including Whisper image macros (example shown below, left) and comparison memes which juxtaposed the image of Lady Gaga's Harley Quinn with a photograph of Margot Robbie as Barbie (example shown below, right).
