John Bercow's Brexit Clips refers to snippets of British Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow shouting numerous words in an effort to calm the House during the January 15th, 2019 Brexit vote in which Parliament overwhelmingly rejected Theresa May's Brexit deal. The clips were paired with various captions to humorously take it out of context.

Origin

On January 15th, 2019, during a rowdy exchange amidst arguing over Brexit, Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow attempted to call the House to order and delivered a loud, lengthy cry of "Order!"


Spread

The clip quickly began seeing spread on Twitter as people paired it with numerous captions. Some popular examples include a tweet by @mrjoshz that gained over 12,000 retweets and 44,000 likes (shown below, top). Another tweet by @WelshGasDoc gained over 370 retweets and 1,400 likes (shown below, bottom).




In another moment from the section, Bercow shouts "Unlock!" The clip spread in a similar fashion. User @TommyWTF1 posted the clip with a joke that gained over 2,400 retweets and 8,600 likes (shown below, top). User @ScotCuthbertson made a joke that gained over 40 retweets and 260 likes (shown below, bottom).
