Jenna Ortega Reveals or Jenna Ortega Says refers to a series of spreading misinformation memes that falsely attribute various revelations about favorite albums, musicians, films, video games and characters to actress Jenna Ortega using the phrasal template "Jenna Ortega reveals X." The trend followed the virality of the actress on social media after the release of the Wednesday Netflix series in late November 2022. The meme is an offshoot of the 2021 Hoyeon Jung Reveals meme.

Origin

On December 1st, 2022, during the period of viral popularity of actress Jenna Ortega that followed the release of the Wednesday comedy horror series, Twitter[1] user @ssevngmjn posted a tweet falsely claiming that Ortega was obsessed with the K-pop band Stray Kids. The tweet gained over 6,400 retweets and 54,600 likes in five days (shown below, left). On December 2nd, Twitter user @ministryofkpop posted a similar tweet[6] that received over 3,100 retweets and 10,300 likes in four days (shown below, right).

Predecessor

Hoyeon Jung, Squid Game Star, Reveals refers to a phrasal template popularized on Twitter in October 2021 where people claim Squid Game actor Hoyeon Jung is obsessed with various albums, films or other things followed by a fictional quote about her current obsession.

Spread

The viral tweets were followed by more posts within the K-pop fandom and other stan communities on Twitter which falsely claimed that Ortega liked certain artists and albums. For example, on December 2nd, 2022, Twitter[2] user @MODERNREG wrote that Jenna Ortega had been obsessed with Bartylus, a Harry Potter ship, with the tweet gaining over 90 retweets and 1,200 likes in four days (shown below, left). Later that day, Twitter[3] user @nastystallion posted a tweet[3] claiming that Ortega's most-listened 2022 album was Emails I Can't Send by Sabrina Carpenter, with the tweet gaining over 260 retweets and 2,100 likes (shown below, right).

In the following days, the format achieved a larger presence on Twitter as it was expanded to include video games and other media. For example, on December 3rd, streamer Hoshizora posted a tweet[4] claiming Ortega's favorite game was Overwatch, which received over 900 retweets and 19,100 likes in two days (shown below, left). On December 4th, Twitter[5] user @battinsonisbest posted a tweet that gained over 670 retweets and 14,200 likes (shown below, right).

The format maintained prevalence on Twitter in early December 2022.
