Hello Is This the Imposter From Among Us? refers to a viral YouTube clip of a man performing a 3AM Challenge where he successfully calls "the imposter" from the video game Among Us, who speaks back to him in a robotic voice. The audio from the clip became a popular sound on TikTok in March 2021, used in ironic Amogus style videos.

Origin

On October 5th, 2020, YouTuber[1] elisocray uploaded a video titled, "CALLING AMONG US IMPOSTER AT 3AM (ANSWERED) HE CAME TO MY HOUSE OMG!!!!" In the video, elisocray calls a phone number allegedly belonging to "the imposter" from Among Us. The imposter picks up and elisocray says, "Hello, is this Among Us imposter? Is this the imposter from Among Us?" to which "the imposter" replies in a robotic voice, "Yes, this is me, imposter; what do you want from me?" (shown below).

On February 24th, 2021, TikToker[2] @_teqh_ uploaded the isolated clip, ending after the imposter introduces itself, garnering over 3 million views in a week (shown below, left).

On Febraury 27th, TikToker[3] @iamactuallylying uploaded a video set to the sound in which he lip dubs to elisocray's dialogue under on-screen text reading, "My 12 IQ brain seeing any red shape with a white oval on it," followed by an image of the mailbox emoji as the imposter speaks, referencing the Things That Look Like Among Us Crewmates format and garnering over 459,000 views in six days (shown below, right). This is the most commonly used format associated with the sound.

TikTok

The sound quickly spread on TikTok as videos using it began showing up on TikTokers' For You pages, gaining significant attention. For example, on February 28th, TikToker[6] @huegaze uploaded a video with a similar caption to @iamactuallylying's, showing off a space heater that somewhat resembles a crewmate, garnering over 1.1 million views in five days (shown below, left). On March 1st, TIkToker[7] @sussyimposter69 uploaded a video set to the sound acting out a skit with Among Us plushes referencing rapper DaBaby, garnering over 613,000 views in four days (shown below, right).

On March 2nd, 2021, TikToker[4] @l0versr0ck uploaded a lip dub video set to the sound with the on-screen text, "me everytime I look at this dog:" during the introductory lip dub, followed by an image of a dog that resembles an Among Us crewmate[5] over the imposter's voice, garnering over 1.2 million views in three days (shown below).

By March 5th, the sound, titled "Is this imposter,"[8] had been used in over 12,000 videos on TikTok.

YouTube Remixes

The video also saw a number of remixes on YouTube starting around the same time as the TikTok trend, but none have gone viral as of March 5th, 2021. On February 27th, 2021, YouTuber mellowshooter posted the earliest known remix (shown below, left).

The following day, on February 28th, YouTuber[9] Bfb Woody uploaded a version of the video replacing the Imposter's voice with an edit of the audio from the 19 Dollar Fortnite Card video (shown below, right).

On March 1st, YouTuber[10] Totally Search Unscripted uploaded a 10-hour loop of the clip, garnering over 2,500 views in four days (shown below, left). On March 5th, YouTuber[11] pewdipe uploaded a YouTube Poop-esque shitpost edit of the clip (shown below, right).
