The Fortnite Boogie Bomb Challenge is a TikTok trend and challenge in which users pretend to throw a Boogie Bomb, an item from the video game Fortnite that forces other players to dance, then pan the camera to reveal a crowd of dancing people. The trend began in early June 2023 and continued to grow in prevalence over the course of the month.

Origin

On June 12th, 2023, TikToker^[1] @the__boys__69__ posted a video where a person pretends to pull the pin out of a grenade and throw it, then pans to the left to show a group of women dancing, garnering over 5.7 million views in a week (shown below).

Spread

The trend continued to spread over the following days. On June 16th, 2023, TikToker^[2] @goofysillymichael posted a video doing the trend, garnering over 8.4 million views in a week (shown below, left). On June 21st, TikToker^[3] @westonvansoest posted a version of the trend that gained over 20.1 million views in two days (shown below, right). On June 22nd, the @Dexerto Twitter^[4] account posted an example of the trend, writing, "The Fortnite boogie bomb trend on TikTok is actual art," garnering over 5,500 likes in a day.
