Overview

Twitch Streamer Justfoxii's Car Set on Fire refers to a June 2023 event in which Twitch streamer justfoxii, also known as Kylee Carter, had her car set on fire by an alleged viewer who purportedly drove 700 miles to do so. Footage of justfoxii's car being set on fire was uploaded to YouTube by herself in a "story time" video titled, "a twitch viewer set my car on fire…" The arson and the male perpetrator's arrest caused viral discourse across Twitter and Reddit, among other platforms, additionally spreading through news coverage.

Background

On June 13th, 2023, Twitch streamer and YouTuber justfoxii uploaded a "story time" video to YouTube[1] titled, "a twitch viewer set my car on fire… | story time." In the roughly four-minute-long video, justfoxii alleged that a viewer of hers drove 700 miles to set her car on fire (referred to in legal terms as arson). She also stated that the man was arrested and in police custody. The event happened roughly two weeks prior to the video's upload, sometime in May 2023.

At the video's 1:31-minute mark, justfoxii showed footage from her home's security camera of the man setting something up on the hood, lighting it and then walking away (shown below). Over the course of two days, the viral video received roughly 83,800 views and 2,000 likes.

Also on June 13th, 2023, justfoxii posted a tweet[2] that included two photos, one showing her car on fire and the other showing the damage, gaining roughly 27,400 likes in two days (shown below).

The news was amplified by Twitter[3] user @HUN2R who posted a tweet on June 14th, 2023, that attached only the car being set on fire footage, additionally including images of the damage and the aftermath. @HUN2R's tweet received roughly 12,800 likes in one day (shown below). The tweet was also reposted elsewhere, such as to Reddit's /r/LiveStreamFailz[4] subreddit on June 14th.

Online Reactions

Various, sincere reactions occurred after justfoxii's announcement of the event with many of her fans on Twitter wishing for her safety. Others also humorously reacted, alleging that the perpetrator was a "tier 3 sub" of justfoxii (this claim is unconfirmed).

For instance, Twitter[5] user @nixkatv wrote, "This guy tier 3 subbed just to be told she has a boyfriend. Then did this 😂," on June 14th, 2023, gaining over 1,000 likes in one day (shown below, left). Others had more insincere reactions, such as Twitter[6] user @witheball on June 14th, who replied to justfoxii with a 3D Text Reaction Image about her promoting her imagined OnlyFans, gaining over 2,000 likes in one day (shown below, right).

In the days that followed, various YouTubers[7][8] uploaded videos that covered the event. For instance, YouTuber[9] Philip Defranco discussed the topic in a video of his uploaded on June 14th, 2023, gaining roughly 564,000 views and 28,000 likes in one day (shown below).
