That day, Twitter^[2] user @prof_gabriele retweeted @triciamatthew's tweet and wrote, "Elizabeth Warren always pays for the grad students’ meals." The post received more than 13,000 likes and 785 retweets in two days (shown below, left).

Throughout the day, others shared variations of the joke.
