Coronavirus Vacation refers to people taking trips during the Coronavirus Outbreak due to cheap flights in beginning in March 2020. Twitter users began naming Millennials as the typical age group to want to take a coronavirus vacation due to clichés surrounding their budget and depression.

Origin

Although many people online referred to a Coronavirus vacation when speaking about being quarantined in their home. On March 5th, 2020, Twitter users began commenting on the trips they would take due to cheap airline tickets. That day, Twitter user @DijahSB[1] posted an image of Tom Holland looking concerned on a flight with the caption, "me after hearing someone cough on my $8 round trip flight to italy" (shown below). The tweet garnered over 411,500 likes and 83,700 retweets in six days.

Onn March 6th, 2020, Twitter user @ayoair captioned a video of someone happil getting on a flight with "The media: 'CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC IS GETTING WORSE EVERYONE PLS WASH UR HANDS AND QUARANTINE URSELVES DON’T MOVE WE’RE GETTING CLOSER TO THE END' Millennials on our way to the airport cuz flight prices dropped:" (shown below). The tweet accumulated over 524,600 likes and 109,200 retweets in five days.

On March 6th, Twitter user @rowdybt[4] posted a photo of herself with a mask and gloves on in a plane with the caption, "Me on my $43 flight to my $20/ night 5-day Coronovacation" (shown below, left). The tweet received over 59,600 likes and 19,500 retweets in five days. On March 10th, Twitter user @JardinTaylor[5] posted, "Coronavirus is everywhere. BOOK THAT FLIGHT. Take that trip. You probably won’t die from it, but even if you do… You wanna die with the Eiffel Tower in the background, or you wanna die with I-20 in the background? You decide" which accumulated over 169,800 likes in a day (shown below, right). The Daily Dot[2] and Junkee[3] published articles on the Coronavirus Vacation.
