The Bye Bye Man Poster Parodies is a photoshop meme based on a promotional poster for the 2017 horror film The Bye Bye Man, which typically replace the film title with humorous variations.

Origin

In April 2016, STX Entertainment released a poster for their upcoming film Bye Bye Man (shown below, left).[1] On December 23rd, Twitter user @krissstraub[4] tweeted an edited version of the poster with the title "The Peepee Poopoo Man" (shown below, right). Within one month, the tweet gained over 2,700 likes and 1,700 retweets.

Spread

On January 4th, 2017, Tumblr user aurajackal[5] posted an edit of the poster titled "The Scatman" (shown below, left). The same day, Tumblr user yourfursona[6] posted variation of the poster with the title "The ICUPMan" (shown below, right). Within three weeks, the posts garnered more than 23,800 and 25,000 notes respectively.

On January 12th, Tumblr user anonment posted a PissGate-themed edit of the poster (shown below, left). On January 15th, the Meme Documentation[3] Tumblr blog published a post about the meme, compiling several notable examples as well.[3] On January 17th, Tumblr user doctorwhodisney[7] posted a variation of the poster with the title "The Hash-Slinging Slasher," gathering more than 59,200 notes over the next two weeks.
