Bloofy and Pouchy are 2D characters from the Pixar animation sequel Inside Out 2. The dog and his talking fanny pack were the stars of Riley’s favorite preschool show, “Bloofy’s House” (a riff on kids' shows like Dora the Explorer). After the film's theatrical release in mid-June 2024, the characters sparked fan art and memes on Twitter / X and TikTok, among other platforms.

Origin

On June 14th, 2024, Pixar's Inside Out 2 premiered in theaters across the United States. Two particular 2D characters featured in the movie, Bloofy and Pouchy, were first revealed on April 16th by the X^[1] account @DiscussingFilm, which describes them as "a character from Riley’s favorite childhood TV series who asks questions to a non-existent audience." The post (seen below) amassed more than 12,000 likes and 1,200 reposts in three months.

Fan art and comments about the characters started to appear on social media after Bloofy's design was revealed in April 2024. For instance, on April 16th, 2024, X^[2] user @Its_Larzz posted a fan art inspired by the Inside Out 2 2D character (seen below, left), which received roughly 120 likes and 30 reposts in three months.

On June 18th, X^[3] user @TheGabiType posted a screenshot of the characters, captioning "He's so perfect where are the Bloofy plushies I need him in my life." The post garnered more than 40 likes and 10 reposts in a few hours.
