Ariana Grande "People Are So Lost" Tweet refers to a tweet by pop star Ariana Grande which took aim at online critics and bloggers after Justin Bieber responded to critic Morgan Stewart who claimed he was lip-syncing in a video. The tweet riled music journalists and became a copypasta on Twitter.

On April 22nd, 2019, E!'s Morgan Stewart criticized Justin Bieber's Coachella 2019 performance with Ariana Grande, knocking the singer's first stage performance in two years for appearing to lip-sync.^[1] Bieber responded on Twitter by saying he was singing over a backing track and accused Stewart of being the kind of bully that would make a kid in high school suicidal.^[2] Grande jumped in to defend Bieber, saying the decision to have Bieber cameo in her set was made at the last minute, meaning there was no time to rehearse his set. Grande went on to tweet saying people who write on blogs are unfulfilled and purposeless, and hoped one day "they feel lit inside" (shown below). The tweet has since been deleted.

The tweet immediately riled music journalists, as Lizzo's anti-critic tweet did two days prior. Phoenix New Times^[3] wrote a scathing piece about Grande's tweet, writing:

Ariana, sweetie, let me explain some things to you. First off, what the fuck are you even doing? Why are you on Twitter? You're rich. You don't need to be on Twitter. You don't need to associate with the commoners, although judging from your timeline your reasons for being there seem to be mostly about retweeting people's praise of you, and that's another issue entirely that I won't even touch. Get offline, do a digital detox, go eat a baby for spirit energy, or whatever you Hollywood freaks do.

Music journalists on Twitter responded by pointing out that many music journalists and bloggers were struggling financially and blogging to help make ends meet. Writer Miles Klee wrote that bloggers were already aware of Grande's point, which is why depression memes exist (shown below, left). Writer Josh Terry joked that when he's famous he will spend his time between diving in piles of money to "melt the fuck down online about my haters and any criticism i may get" (shown below, right).

Others turned Ariana's tweet into a copypasta with which they posted humorous photos. Examples include a tweet by @hunteryharris who used an image of Thanos, gaining over 200 retweets and 1,500 likes (shown below, left). User @gabebergado posted a website from the old Nickelodeon show The Amanda Show (shown below, right).
